Australian Blackbutt
Satin lacquer · Golden blonde
Blackbutt is the workhorse hardwood of the Australian east coast — a tall eucalyptus native to NSW and southern QLD. Its charcoal-black bark (hence 'blackbutt') sheds after bushfires while the timber inside stays golden. One of the six Australian hardwood species approved for BAL-29 bushfire-zone construction.

Care & maintenance
How this floor ages well.
- 01Vacuum weekly with soft-brush attachment or micro-fibre mop dry.
- 02Damp-mop with a pH-neutral timber cleaner every 2–4 weeks — never wet-mop or use vinegar/ammonia.
- 03Wipe spills within 60 seconds — timber tolerates moisture briefly, not standing water.
- 04Re-oil high-traffic areas every 3–5 years to refresh matte finish.
- 05Sand & recoat the whole floor once every 15–25 years — engineered floors accept 2–3 sandings.
