Moroccan Zellige

Hand-glazed clay

Zellige (زليج) is the terracotta-based glazed tile of Fez, Morocco — hand-cut from local clay, dipped in metal-oxide glazes, and fired in kilns fuelled by olive-pit charcoal. The signature colour bloom, pinholes and irregular edges are not defects but the hallmarks of authentic hand craft. Specify with a client who values wabi-sabi imperfection.
